With this firmly in mind, our team travelled to Reading to attend an intensive training course, hosted by Cl:aire, where they brushed up on their Land Contamination knowledge.
The in-depth course initially walked them through the Contaminated Land Exposure Assessment (CLEA) framework, but Tim and Matt took the opportunity to deep dive into some dynamic human health risk assessments.
One of the many things they have learned more about was that a simple hot spot, or even several, of land contamination on a site may not necessarily call for expensive land contamination remediation!
If Cornwall Mining Consultants can model the risk parameters, or even undertake some targeted additional testing, we now know we may be able to prevent the need to remove nominally ‘contaminated’ soils from site, reducing both the costs for our clients and the burden on our landfill sites.
