We recently launched a significantly improved version of our Metalliferous Mining Searches which have been designed with conveyancing in mind with the adddition of data from our in-house, dynamic SecureShaft™ data set.
With access to over 4000 shafts and mine workings which have been previously treated, including SecureShaft™ information in our reports enables us to provide a more in-depth, site specific appraisal of the subsidence risk. It also allows to, wherever possible, to clear properties without the need for expensive or intrustive further investigation work, saving both time and money whilst placing our Mining Searches above all the rest.
But what really is SecureShaft™? SecureShaft™ is our completely unique and dynamic in-house dataset of approximately 4000 mine shafts and workings, each of which have been secured or treated in the past. Drawing on information derived from a range of specialist third party contributors, SecureShaft™ also includes over 500 shafts which have been capped by our very own Cornwall Mining Consultants team.

Not all shafts have been treated in the same way. Each of these secured mining hazards have been carefully appraised by our expert research team who have then classified them according to the indicated security, based on the available information, reported condition and original treatment method. In many cases, this means that no further assessment is required allowing property conveyance to proceed without further delays.
This additional set of SecureShaft™ data paints a far wider picture of the area, allowing us to provide a much more in-depth site-specific appraisal of the subsidence risk. In addition, as we mention above, we are able to clear properties where possible, saving both time and money as we can remove or reduce the need for further investigation work, which is inevitably timely and costly.
SecureShaftTM currently holds over 4000 records, but we are expanding this dataset all the time, which means it will help more and more home buyers for years to come.
