This week Mark Moyle achieved the incredible feat of working with us for an incredible 25 years. In celebration of this we sat him down to share some of his most memorable moments during his time with us so Mark, it’s over to you!
“During my first 13 years with Cornwall Mining Consultants I worked as a drilling operative, alongside numerous surveyors across the southwest which I’m sure you can imagine, led to some fun memories, below are some of my highlights.
The first involves a surveyor who was always really helpful on site. He would always help to fill in the holes after the core had been removed which was great however he never managed to place the mortar bucket in a convenient position. This meant on more than one occasion, he ended up putting his foot straight into the wet mix when coming down from the ladder, covering his once clean shoe and resulting in plenty of laughs!
My second one always makes me smile and relates to a different surveyor who was resting his clipboard on the edge of a skip. A gust of wind caught it sending it flying into the skip, he proceeded to climb into the skip, in his professional smart suit, and rifle through all the contents until he had retrieved his clipboard and paperwork, a most comical scene for us all!
Another top experience for me was spending time working with a surveyor who specialised in coastal properties that were always interesting to attend. On one occasion I had to row across to the property on a little rowing boat with all my equipment, peacefully crossing the serene creek with all my drilling attire was a surreal experience and what a fantastic way to arrive at your home!
I’m sure I don’t need to say that this is by no means extensive and after 25 years of work with Cornwall Mining Consultants, I have an abundance of wonderful memories. Working here has been an absolute pleasure offering me variety and progression. One of the things I really love about my job is this variety and I was lucky enough to spend two days coring a prominent building on the Isles of Scilly. We soon discovered that what the individual had worried was concrete, was in fact granite so no need for any mundic concerns. I however returned home with some lovely paperweights!”
It is no small thing to spend such a significant part of your life with one company and we would like to extend our gratitude to Mark for his hard work, loyalty and support. Here’s to the next 25 eh Mark?!
